The league of Nations was a pact that was set up at the end of WW1 to prevent further world conflict.

Causes
One of the causes was just WW1 general because of all the violence the nations involved felt like they needed a pact to prevent further conflict
Another cause for the need of the league of nations was the major powers didn't want to have more wars and/or conflicts

Effects
A effect of the league of nations was that there was no large scale conflicts until the breakout of WW2
Another effect of the league of nations was that it did solve some international disputes but didn't stop WW2
