Apple releases LISA, the first personal computers with a GUI, featuring user friendly icons and menus.

- Computers became more useful to the public with the new interface. Previously, you had to be educated to use computers, now much more people had access to these devices
- Lead to the development of other GUI's that were friendly to the average consumer, opening market and development to a new level
- Failed commercially, but lead to the release of the Apple MACINTOSH, which was a big success
