On Jan 2 my mother buy some Canadian money in China through Chinese bank. After that she transfer those Canadian money to my Canadian bank account for my next-year tuition.

The first factor is economy:
Right now one Canadian dollar is equal to 5.37 Chinese money. This shows that compared with Chinese money, Canadian money worth more.

Because China is a developing country while Canada is a developed country. The development of Canada is higher than that of China. For example, Canada has a GDP per capita of $48,300, while in China, the GDP per capita is $16,700. This also shows that canada is a more developed country.

The second factor is politics:
The money transferring between those two countries are also restricted by politics. Every time when the government of the country promulgation of new politics and regulations, the economy is always influenced (sometimes becomes better, sometimes becomes worse). Also the trade barriers are also influenced because trade is based on money.
In a word, politics has a big influence on currency exchange.
