I mainly shop for my clothes from big companies like H&M, Garage, and Old Navy. If we take H&M as an example, it is a Swedish retailer that produces most of its clothes in third world countries such as Bangladesh and Cambodia. This labour outsourcing is a widespread method used by almost all fast fashion brands because it is economically feasible to produce in countries with cheaper labour costs. This creates environmental damage caused by the poor working conditions and pollution created. Nowadays, fast-fashion online retail is a booming industry, and many real stores cannot compete, like Forever 21, going out of business.
However, recently there has been a new trend of thrift shopping. This is more ethical and also environmentally friendly, which is why it has attracted many consumers, such as myself.
