On January 9, 1963, the Mohammad Reza Shah launched the "White Revolution" by introducing 6 of the 19 eventual elements that were introduced over a period of 16 years. The White Revolution was supposed to be a non-violent regeneration of Iran through economic and social reforms and initiated many heavy industry projects.
