Communication went from speech and performance to actual communication. The Speech Association changed their name to Speech Communication Association. They began to use more forms and sources of communication. By the 1980s colleges and universities began to rename their departments so the word Communication can be part of it. Communication now is based on the sender, reciever, and enviornment. Many forms of communications exist now. Such as in person, face to face, through social media ect.
