Roughly a month after his inauguration, President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. It allocated $3.5 billion towards renewable energy projects, $11.3 billion to energy efficiency and conservation programs, and $2 billion to battery development. It also included money for modernizing the electrical grid and loan guarantees for renewable energy technologies. (ProCon.org)
