7 июн 1965 г. - Griswold v. Connecticut

Описание:

The Executive Director of Planned Parenthood League of Connecticut, Estelle Griswold, and gynecologist and professor at Yale School of Medicine, C. Lee Buxton, aided married couples in medical advice regarding birth control and wrote prescriptions for contraception for the woman. At the time, it was against the law in Connecticut for any person to use contraception and for any person to assist, counsel, cause, or command another to do the same. While the two were found guilty, the Supreme Court ruled that Connecticut's birth control law was unconstitutional based on rights written in the Fourth and Fifth Amendment that protect an individual's home and private life from involvement of the government. Therefore, the original decision was overturned. This case stated that Connecticut cannot prohibit contraception, thereby promoting women's reproductive rights.
