There were two treaties; a public and a secret one. In the public one, it was said that Mexico would never fight Texas again, that troops must return to Mexico, and that Texas should have their land back again. In the secret one, it said that Mexico should recognize Texas as a republic, and that the border for Texas should be the Rio Grande.
