The construction of Interstate 70 Highway beginning 1956 started the slow disruption of the Strawberry Hill area leading to the destruction of 219 homes. Many people started to leave the area at this time. Strawberry Hill is still diverse and includes many Hispanic, African, and Asian populations as well as the original prideful European cultures.
