Tea Act damaged the profit for tea smugglers, and local shopkeepers. John Hancock is 1 famous tea smuggler whose tea inventory was taken by britsh officials. The Sons of Liberty convinced the colonist to view the act as another example of “taxation without representation” beacuse they did not have the freedom to buy tea from anyone but the East virgin company.
