Lucy Armstrong, the wife of John Armstrong carried on this family legacy of close ties with the Wyandot tribe until passing in 1892. She wrote the federal government commissioners of Indian Affairs protesting slavery in the county. In 1850 Lucy Armstrong donated land for the 1st Wyandotte Methodist Episcopal Church on 38th and Parallel.
