President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas as he rode the motorcade through a downtown plaza near the Texas School Book Depository. This assassination included JFK who was killed, Governor Connelly who was shot in the back and the shooter Lee Harvey Oswald. The major cause of this would be the major feud that was happening within the democratic party which the President was worried would prevent him from winning the state in '64. He also knew that there was an extremist group that was increasing political tensions within Texas, so JFK wanted to visit the people. President Lyndon B. Johnson became president after the assassination of JFK who ultimately signs the CIvil Rights Act of 1964.
