3. The governor of Arkansas, Orval Eugene Faubus, sent 270 soldiers of the Arkansas National Guard to protect the nine children from crowds of angry parents and protesters
4. It happened in Little Rock, Arkansas at Little Rock Central High School.
5. The ruling of Brown v. Board of Education was the primary cause.
6. More black students followed suit and tried to desegregate typically all-white schools. However, this event later caused the mayor of Little Rock to close all schools, which other Southern school districts did as well as subsidizing white student attendance at segregated private schools.
