The Warren Court ruled unanimously in a landmark decision that the segregation of the races in public schools was unconstitutional. They invalidated the "separate, but equal" precedent set in Plessy v. Ferguson
The cause of the issue was the segregation of public schools across many states and questions about whether or not the facilities for racial minorities were equal
The decision had major effects across the nations as schools had to begin integrating. This jumpstarted the overall civil rights movement and signalled that the Warren Court would support civil rights causes.
