A hypostyle hall is a large room with many columns. The hypostyle hall at Karnak is one of the largest halls of its kind from Egypt. It has 134 stone columns. Ramesses II ruled ancient Egypt for 66 years from 1279 B.C. to 1213 B.C. Ramesses II had many temples and statues of himself put up around Egypt, and is known for being a great military leader.
