The Declaration of the Rights of Man was made by the National Assembly and was used to outline the independence of the people, the rights of liberty, property, security, and resistance to oppression. The declaration also ended the tax exempt privileges of the nobles and forced them to become more equal with commoners. This was a step forward in the revolution towards equality and away from people with higher privileges.
