Upper Silesia was an iron and steel rich area on the border of Germany and Poland. A plebiscite was organised so for the Upper Silesians to decide which country they wanted to be part of, French and british troops mediated the polling booths. industrial areas voted for Germany, rural areas for Poland. The League divided the rgion along these lines and gave each side there own power and water supplies to avoide future disputes.
