Proved that blood circulated around the body. He proved the heart acts as a pump re-circulating blood. He did this by disecting live animals predominantly lizards and watching their heart pump there blood as they slowly died. Through this he also worked out how much blood was in the body and how much was pumped in on pump. Disproving Galens idea that blood was made up in the liver and burnt up as fuel.
