Svarfina, jealous of Lingard's will-driven mind and perfect form, shapes the Vourenkinn in his image, striving for perfection, yet upon concluding her work and breathing life into her children she find each and every one of them hideous and as far from perfect as the soil of the Realm. Thus she abandons them, too consumed by jealousy to guide them in their birthing years as Lingard was guided.

In consequence, the first Vourenkinn come into Ár as wild things, too primitive to think of anything other than survival. For many hundred cycles they struggle against the will of the elements and against each other, living nomadic lifestyles on their lonesome or in small packs, roaming from food source to food source for millennia.
