After traveling across the river after Siddhartha continues to try to find himself, he meets a young woman by the name of Kamala. Siddhartha is immediately attracted to Kamala and goes to speak with her, Siddhartha wants Kamala to teach him the art of love and sex. Kamala then tells Siddhartha that we he is doing isn't good enough, and in order to attract her, he'll need better clothes, money, and shoes, while also bring an over showering of gifts to Kamala. Siddhartha then writes a poem for Kamala in which she kisses him in return.
Character Relationships: In this section, Kamala seems over controlling and obsessive over changing Siddhartha so that he may find himself. This is demonstrated by the fact that Kamala tells him he isn't good enough and he needs to better his image in order to learn the art of love so that it may be used as a step for Siddhartha to achieve enlightenment
Themes, Symbols, and Motifs: A reoccurring theme in this section of the book is how Kamala constantly thinks Siddhartha is not good enough in a lot of facets of what he does. Examples of this include clothing, wealth, personality, shoes and much more. Siddhartha continues to deal with it as he is determined to find the art of love in order to use it as as stepping stone to achieve enlightenment.
