28 май 1830 г. - Indian Removal Act Passed

Описание:

Signed into effect by the notoriously anti-native president Andrew Jackson, the law authorized the president to negotiate with Native American tribes to remove them to federal land west of the Mississippi river. In reality, it simply allowed Jackson to legally force Native Americans westward, which often resulted in most of them dying from the conditions they experienced as a result of the removal. The law constituted a major part of the United States' systematic removal of Native tribes farther and farther west. This act has been classified by many as systematic genocide, because it discriminates against an ethnic group to the point of the death of the majority of its population. (Continuity: systematic removal of Natives from their ancestral lands as part of U.S. expansionist policy) (Effect of event: thousands died to the brutal conditions faced by natives as they travelled westward, dwindling their populations. In the Trail of Tears, over 5000 Cherokee die)
