In March of 2004 the European Space Agency launches the Rosetta from French Guiana, launch site Kourou ELA-3. The Rosetta, carrying the lander probe Philae, is destined to rendezvous with Comet 67P in 2014.Then in August of 2014, the spacecraft Rosetta became the first to catch up with a comet and land a probe (Philae) on the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko though its batteries ran out two days later. Communications with Philae were briefly restored in June and July 2015, but due to diminishing solar power, Rosetta's communications module with the lander were turned off on 27 July 2016. On 30 September 2016, the Rosetta spacecraft ended its mission by hard-landing on the comet in its Ma'at region. It altogether cost $1.58 billion.
