This Russian Civil War was a multi-party war, in the former Russian Empire. This took place immediately after the two Russian Revolutions. By the end of 1917 the Bolsheviks only controlled Petrograd. Many parts of the Russian Empire took the opportunity to declare their independence. Finland took the opportunity and then the Civil War took place shortly after. The Whites were lead by Mannheim and the Reds were led by Lenin. About 8 million people lost their lives during this war. Out of the 8 million about 1 million was from the Reds. Many soldiers also lost their lives to starvation and epidemics.
