16 апр 1769 г. - Watt Patents Steam Engine
Описание:
Due to the rise in demand of coal, mining coal rose in prominence as surface coal became exhausted. This resulted in the need to pump out underground water as mines went ever deeper. Animal power was expensive, and in 1705, Thomas Newcomen designed a rudimentary pump. However, it was inefficient, but since it was still better than animal power, it grew to prominence. In 1763, James Watt saw that Thomas Newcomen’s machine was inefficient, and added a separate condenser to increase efficiency. Watt eventually worked with a wealthy English industrialist (Matthew Boulton) to build the parts for the machine, which eventually revolutionized the iron industry through the growth of the steam-powered plant.
