Sherman was perhaps the second greatest union general behind U.S. Grant. He saw his first major fights at Battle of Bull Run, Shiloh, Vicksburg, and Chattanooga. He is most known for his famous march to the sea, where he marched to Savannah Georgia burning everything in his path.
