The bloodiest battle in all of american history. It was fought in Sharpsburg, Maryland, between General McClellan and General Robert E. Lee. This battle was significant as Lincoln was waiting for a Union victory to announce his Emancipation Proclamation. The Union victory during this battle became the perfect opportunity for him to do that.
