Galileo Galilei along with Johannes Kepler, introduced new scientific theories and evidence that disproved the Ptolemaic universe, the idea, created by the Greek Claudius Ptolemy, that the universe was centered around Earth. Scientists went to great lengths to prove this unprovable concept until new theories started to emerge. Galileo found, using the telescope, that planets were imperfect and new celestial bodies existed and Kepler found that planetary orbits are elliptical. This along with the work of other scientists completely disproved the idea of the Ptolemaic universe. (4.1)
