The Oort Cloud is about 5,000 - 100,000 AU away from the Sun. 5,000 AU would be 50,000 years away from the Sun, which is 47981 BC. It is farther than the orbit of Neptune. The Oort Cloud is too far to be seen with current telescopes, but it is believed to be a thick bubble of icy debris. The Oort cloud is spherical and it is thought to be the origin of most comets.
