(On this date, Bolesław the Brave, who was originally the Duke of Lesser Poland (the area surrounding the city of Krakow), declared himself the King of Poland after consolidating the other lands of Poland under his rule. The Kingdom of Poland would stand until 1385, when it entered a union with Lithuania.)
