Only a day after Costa Rica, Nicaragua also formally split from the Federal Republic of Central America. Unlike Costa Rica, Nicaragua has unfortunately struggled for much of its history with unrest and dictatorships. Recent years have seen protests by Nicaraguans, who fight to have a fair democracy.
