(Date approximate) (Around this year, the Kingdom of Lan Xang brought a large swath of central Southeast Asia under its rule, uniting much of what would become modern Laos. Lan Xang was one of the great powers of Southeast Asia, and would remain so for several centuries. Modern Laotians consider Lan Xang their ancestor state.)
