The conflict began in April of 1775, and finally ended with the Declaration on Independence on July 4th, 1776. The fighting began as a result of the Americans wanting their freedom from British control. The British control got too far, angering the Americans with Acts passed such as the Sugar Act, Proclamation Act, Quartering Act, Stamp Act, and Tea Act, which all led to the start of the Revolutionary War. Britain attempted to crush rebels with the force of their immense army. But, all of the rebels were coming together in revolting against and drafting the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson drafted it, conversing with Benjamin Franklin and Samuel Adams. Then, the draft was brought to the Continental Congress on July 1st. The following day, 12 of the 13 colonies adopted the resolution. The 3rd and the 4th of July, the Congress made changes and revisions to the document, and Congress officially adopted the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776.
