2. Jamestown – In the year 1607, the first successful English colony in North America, Jamestown, was founded. This marked the first successful colony in what would become the United States. Without the discover of America by Columbus, this colony would not have been possible. Jamestown started Britain’s mass colonization of North America, which would eventually lead to the 7 years war.
