3 ч 31 мин, 24 март 1774 г. - Intolerable (Coercive) Acts

Описание:

King George III was angry by the organized destruction of British property, and he pressed Parliament to act. On March 24, 1774, Parliament responded by passing a series of measures that colonists called the Intolerable Acts:
- Boston Port Bill: shut down Boston Harbor because the colonists refused to pay for the damaged tea.
- Massachusetts Government Act: abolished the colony's charter of 1691, reducing it to the level of a crown colony, substituting a military gov under Gen. Thomas Gage (who was appointed gov. of Massachusetts and he placed Boston under martial law to keep the peace) and forbidding town meetings without approval.
- The Administration of Justice Act: aimed at protecting British officials charged with capital offenses during law enforcement by allowing them to go to England or another colony trial.
- Quartering Act: new arrangements for housing British troops in occupied American dwellings.
