To further continue the American influence, a Second Great Awakening would revitalize the connection people had established between one another and bring them together at social gatherings to preach about social and emotional issues that would plague the common citizen. Some camp meetings would encourage talks about spiritual equality and specifically asked for women and African-Americans. Ministers believed that to reach heaven the people of God would need to perform some kind of change that would help the culture and society of America.
