Queen had been playing in clubs and universities in London for almost two years when the band had the opportunity to try the new recording equipment of the De Lane Studios. Taking advantage of the opportunity, they recorded a demo tape with five songs: "Keep Yourself Alive", "The Night Comes Down", "Great King Rat", "Jesus" and "Liar'' .
