Former GRU (Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation) Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were attacked in Salisbury, England with Novichok. Both survived, but up to 38 people in the area were affected to an unknown extent. It is unclear who committed the attack, whether it be the Russian government or a professional assassin. Citizens, Charlie Rowley and Dawn Sturgess, were found unconscious in a house in Amesbury, England, eight miles from Salisbury. Sturgess died, but Charlie survived.
