1 сент 1951 г. - The ANZUS Treaty
Описание:
The Australia, New Zealand and United States Security Treaty, or ANZUS Treaty, was an agreement signed in 1951 to protect the security of the Pacific. According to the treaty, an attack on one nation is regarded as a threat to the security of all nations. This means that Australia, New Zealand and the US are on the same side if homeland defence is needed. The treaty was one of the series that the United States formed in the 1949–55 era as part of its collective response to the threat of communism during the Cold War. As the other Allied powers turned their attention to the reconstruction of postwar Europe and Japan in the post World War II era, the governments of Australia and New Zealand remained concerned about the possibility of future Japanese expansionism and grew apprehensive about the rise of communism, particularly in East Asia. Signing the treaty with the United States was a crucial side-picking decision made by the Australian government. It secured Australia's safety, and introduced Australia to the world as an important ally of the United States post-world-war-two, helping them secure the Pacific region. The treaty is still valid today, and Australia remains a close strategic ally to the United States.
