Around 1970 Richard and two other scientists (Jerome Friedman and Henry Kendall) conducted experiments focusing on how the electrons scattered through collisions and how protons were sometimes converted into other particles. The results of these experiments helped prove that protons and neutrons are made up of sub-particles.
