Zheng He’s expeditions occurred between 1405 and 1453 and took place in the Indian Ocean Basin. His naval expeditions occurred as an attempt to impose greater control over trade, as well as impress foreign peoples with the might of the empire. Zheng He’s missions stopped in 1453 because of mistrust in Zheng He from the Chinese government. (3.1)
