The German Revolution of 1848-1849 - which in terms of the first revolutionary phase of the year 1848 is also known as the March Revolution - was the revolutionary event that took place between March 1848 and the end of 1849 in the Germanic Confederation. It happened in its most powerful territories, Austria and Prussia, and in their respective areas outside the Confederation.
