1 янв 1786 г. - Threshing Machine

Описание:

The thrashing machine, or, in modern spelling, threshing machine (or simply thresher), was first invented by Scottish mechanical engineer Andrew Meikle for use in agriculture. His first few were failures, but with thorough examination, he was able to revise his previous designs, changing from rubbing the grain to beating the grain in order to remove all the excess fibers. It was devised for the separation of grain from stalks and husks. For thousands of years, grain was separated by hand with flails, and was very laborious and time consuming, taking about one-quarter of agricultural labor by the 18th century. A reaper allowed a smaller number of people to physically cut the wheat stalks much faster than someone with just a sickle. A thresher then allowed a smaller team to thresh the grains from the stalks of a much larger quantity of wheat. Mechanization of this process took much of the drudgery out of farm labour. As a result, farm productively increased greatly
