 - Were war-like people. Used to conquer surrounding tribes and impose tribute on them.
- Toltec civilization flourished in ancient central Mexico.
- Stablished their capital at Tollan. Its population was between 30,000 and 40,000.
- Had buildings made from gold, jade, turquoise, and quetzal feathers.
- Toltec wealth came from its highly skilled craftsman in metallurgy and pottery.  
- Sculptures consisting of four warriors standing on top of a high pyramid.
- Produced huge maize crops, and natural colored cotton of red, yellow, green, and blue.
- Traded obsidian, which was used for blades and arrowheads.
- Were polytheistic
- Used to perform human sacrifices for the gods.
Society
- High class: artisans, craftsmen, merchants, priests, and warriors.
- Commoners: farmers 
- Slaves: usually freed if they were abused.
- Decline:
     - Extensive droughts
     - Internal disputes
     - Cities were destroyed due to disputes.
