Sampson fought her first battle outside of Tarrytown, NY. She was injured, recieveing a cut in the head and two musket balls in the leg. She was treating for the head injury but, fearing her identity would be revealed, she fled the hospital. She removed one of the musketballs herself, but was unable to remove the second one. She would never fully recover.
