With the invention and development of the printing press, specifically the Gutenberg press in c. 1440, information spread in a way it never had been able to before. Before the printing press only those rich enough to afford hand copied books could own and read them. After the Gutenberg press however, this changed. Now most anyone could afford books and information began to be much more common. Now like never before people were starting to read the Bible, medical manuscripts, travel guides and many more and started to question them.
