 passed a law making the Nazi Party the only legal party in Germany - banned all other political parties and sent any political opponents into concentration camps
 reduced the number of opponents
 trade unions dissolved
No strong organisation to counter Hitler’s will → those against him were isolated → Hitler’s control over Germany grew
