After some discussions and agreements, the U.S and Spain came to a compromise in which the U.S would receive Spanish controlled Florida to be a part of U.S territory for a estimated price of $5 million. The treaty was signed by the Spanish Prime Minister Do Louis DE Onis and U.S secretary of state John Quincy Adams. This event is critical because it shows how the U.S and Spain have settled their disputes of the area over the years. This event also adds to the territorial expansion of the U.S, as well as over economic and industrial power.
