1.German humiliation
-greatly angered to accept total blame for war
-feel that they don't deserve to get total blame

2.German territorial Reductions
-damaged German's pride & Germany's economy
-prevented all further expansion through merger esp Austria-Hungary

3.Self-determination & new boundaries created
-creation of independent nation states for ethnic communities but were unclear
-various nationalities of Austria-Hungary gained their own national states
-Germans angry-as term only applied to winners

4.Economic weakness
-lost 15% of active male population > shortage of abled workers
-reparations worsens own condition/problems
-cannot pay ^ > France confisicate coal & other goods as payment > worsens economic crisis > general strike as Germans felt unfair/bitter

5.Military weakness
-harsh limitations to ensure no more war
-Germany cannot defend borders with France
