The announcer explains that each of the 16 official teams of Warcross have 5 official players and each team has one spot open for the Wild-Cards, 40 to choose from and in the end all 40 will belong to a team. The announcer calls off each Wild-Card while stating DJ Ren is not here due to preparing for hosting the first party for Warcross.
